The blaze ripped through the Le Constellation bar in the alpine resort, located in the Alps of the Valais region, in the middle of the night of the first day of the year. Confirmed images reveal the ceiling being engulfed in flames as bottles with fireworks are raised in celebration.

Officials have warned that it could take considerable time to identify the those who perished of the fire, which resulted in the death of numerous partygoers and injured another over a hundred.
