The loved ones of young people unaccounted for after a deadly fire at a bar in a Switzerland's alpine town are confronting an agonising period of uncertainty for confirmed information and pleading for any details about their loved ones via social media.

The blaze ripped through the Le Constellation bar in the alpine resort, located in the Alps of the Valais region, in the middle of the night of the first day of the year. Confirmed images reveal the ceiling being engulfed in flames as bottles with fireworks are raised in celebration.

Officials have warned that it could take considerable time to identify the those who perished of the fire, which resulted in the death of numerous partygoers and injured another over a hundred. Officials said on the latest update that 113 of the injured have been accounted for, with efforts continuing to locate the final individuals.

The Italian foreign ministry has indicated that six of its young people are still unaccounted for.

Included in that group is Emanuele Galeppini, a 16-year-old sportsman, who hailed from Italy but now living in Dubai.

The national sporting body has released a tribute that he is deceased, without mentioning the fire, paying tribute to a "talented young man who represented dedication and true sportsmanship."

His parent, reportedly stated that his son was at the bar and was last in contact around midnight. An representative has clarified that a formal confirmation of his death is awaited.

Other Missing Individuals

Giovanni Tamburi, 16, is likewise unaccounted for. His mother told reporters that he had been on vacation but had ventured out with a group and ended up at the bar.
