The club confirmed they are set to host at the partially upgraded Camp Nou on Saturday. The club will host Athletic Bilbao in the Spanish league 30 months following their departure so building work could begin.
“Returning home was our dream. Finally, it’s happening. We are back at Spotify Camp Nou.”
Attendance will be limited though over 45,000 attendees will be allowed to watch based on approved permits. After final construction, the stadium’s capacity will reach over 104,000 attendees, a rise from the old capacity. The club said completed upgrades featured a renovated tunnel for players plus modern locker rooms.
The club conducted an open training session on the home pitch on 7 November. They mentioned approval is being pursued from European football’s governing body for their upcoming Champions League fixture against Eintracht Frankfurt on 9 December at the stadium. Previous fixtures took place in the temporary ground.
